New Stuff!

I'm finally getting around to playing with new stuff from the Occasions Catalog after having it sit in a box calling my name to come and play! Such great stuff! I kept looking at everything and couldn't decide which one to start with. I made a trip over to Splitcoaststampers to see what the challenges were for today. I combined the 2 challenges and came up with this card.

I love the new Designer Series Paper Falling in Love. It is so soft and muted. I thought it made a perfect background for the lantern technique. I sponged some Peekaboo Peach on the lantern and popped it up for dimension. The stamp is from the Oh So Succulent set. Added some linen thread and was done. It looks better in real life!

Christmas One Sheet Wonder

I decided to do a Christmas One Sheet Wonder at the suggestion of a friend, and I couldn't resist using the candy cane lane paper from SU!. And how can you not love the cookie cutter bundle. It is so adorable! I can't wait to play with it some more.

Now this picture is not as artistic as the last one because my daughter took the other photo. I don't have her talent so you just get my normal photography skills for this one.

I started out using that cute gingerbread man. It's hard to tell in the photo on the right, but I used the red glitter embossing powder. Fun!

I did 2 more with him, even taking a bite out of his leg! My first thought was to do all of them with the gingerbread but I wanted to try something else.

I used the sweet home set for these two.

There are so many great stamp sets and paper that could be used for this technique. Here are a few others.

One Sheet Wonder

I have always wanted to try  a one sheet wonder set and finally found time to actually do it! Life continues to be busy. My hubby sliced the nerves and tendons in his wrist a couple weeks ago, so there have been ER trips and Dr. visits, plus a hubby home who can't do anything! But I managed to squeeze out some time.

The layout I decided on is here. There are so many out there but this one looked pretty simple. My first one used some old DSP so I could see if I liked it or not. I did, so I tried it using the Floral Boutique DSP from Stampin Up! Here is what I came up with.

I just love the navy and white! I used lots of die cuts too. Very fun and a quick way to get a lot of cards!

Thoughtful Branches

Whew! What a stressful, emotional few weeks I have had. I moved my youngest daughter to the Chicago area, my middle daughter had appendicitis, we had to finish up an apartment we were renting, start on a house we are flipping, and were in a large craft fair in the middle of all this. I think my life is a little too busy! I am looking forward to a little slower place.

One of the fun crafty things in the middle of all this busyness is the release of a new stamp set available only in the month of August from Stampin Up! It is called Thoughtful Branches and I have been having such a good time playing with it!

Lilacs are one of my favorite flowers, so I was excited to make this. There is a way to make it with the die cut too. That is on my list of things to try.

Here is a summer card.

My winter one. Still have to make the spring and fall.

You can even make coral with it! This is such a versatile set! I think I will be using it a lot.

Fox Punch Again

I finally got to play with my punch, making people again. I haven't even made a fox yet! I was using the SU! set Picture Perfect when I noticed the sentiment "Our hearts decide who is family" and thought I would try to make a "family" portrait. Hope you like my take on it.

Their faces come from an old SU set called paper dolls. I bought it for my girls when they were little. I had it out for a sale when I remembered it had faces in it and hurried and pulled it out. Just goes to show, you can NEVER get rid of old stamps! You might need them some day!

I did make another one too.

I used the top of the acorn punch for her shirt and the sweet collar was also from the paper doll set. I don't think I will be getting rid of those stamps for awhile!

Fox Punch

I just got my haul from the new SU catalog and I couldn't wait to play with the fox punch. I have had my eye on this since we could first see what was in the catalog! And to my surprise, the first thing I made with it wasn't a fox! It wasn't even an animal! I made people!

Here are some of the ones I made. I know they don't have faces yet, but I was so excited about what I could make, I had to share it with you!

I'm not even sure how I will put them on cards, but I thought they were cute! Off to play some more! Thanks for looking!

May Paper Pumpkin

I have all these little red boxes sitting on a shelf collecting dust. And right now there is a lot of dust! Whenever I start to clean my craft room I get distracted and start to play. So today, I decided that I would at least do one of them. So I pulled out the current one to see what I could make.

These are the cards you can make if you follow the instructions.

Now these are OK. My daughter came by and looked at them and really liked them. She liked the colors together and the designs. She even said she wished she had seen it earlier because she would have sent it to a friend instead of the one she did. I'm not crazy about the color scheme. Must be a generational thing.

When I first pulled the kit out, I saw trees when I looked at the triangle one, so I made a Christmas card. I used the softly falling EF on the green to add a little interest.

The other pattern reminded me of a trellis so I punched some flowers out of the orange paper to give it some texture and used the die cut from the rose garden framelits. I really like how this one turned out.

The last one for today is a shaker card. It's been awhile since I made one and I forgot to put the transparency sheet one before the tape! The paper got messed up when I tried to take it off so I covered it with embellishments.

I have a few more ideas for the rest of the kit but I needed to stop and try to organize some. But I'll probably get distracted again!

Swirly Bird

When I saw the challenge over at CAS(E) this Sketch, I immediately thought of the swirly bird set  from SU! I have been playing with it lately and having so much fun. It is a great set.

Just a quick and simple card that was fun to make. I think the new color Flirty Flamingo goes well with Watermelon Wonder.

Hope you enjoy! Thanks for stopping by.

Sitting Here

I finally had a chance to play with one of the stamp sets from the new Stampin Up! catalog. I was so excited to see it in the pre-order because it was one of the ones I really wanted! We used to have a porch swing at our first house, and I spend many quiet  mornings sitting on it sipping tea and reading. When I saw the stamp set, it reminded me of those wonderful mornings and made me wish I still had one. Hmm, maybe I will ask for one for my birthday.

In the first one I just stamped and colored it with markers, fussy cutting the pillow. I used the grass and flower stamps from In the Meadow.

I am entering it in the Make My Monday In the Garden  and Dragonfly Dreams Summertime challenges.

In the second one, I colored the stamp with a marker and stamped on watercolor paper. Using the dry brush technique, I pulled some of the color from the image. I really like the way it turned out, although the photo doesn't really show it well.

It's a Shower...

I recently purchased a box full of sayings for my House-Mouse stamps on ebay. I am so excited! They are so hard to find. One of them was the "It's a shower" stamp and I have 2 stamps that will work with it so I decided to use one today. I didn't want to color everything in because that would make the cards too pricey in a pack to sell. So I decided to color one mouse at the suggestion of a friend.

I just love these little guys walking in the rain! I will definitely color the whole card soon. And I am looking forward to spring rains instead of winter snows!

I am entering this in the House-Mouse challenge Rain or Shine.

Thanks for stopping by to look! Have a great weekend.

Winter Sports

I'm not much of a winter sports person. I don't like being cold and much perfer to sit in front of a fire with a nice cup of tea and read. I realized this Christmas, when we didn't have any snow, that I was quite alright with that! So maybe becoming a snowbird is in my future!

When I saw the House-Mouse challenge of winter sports, I thought about this stamp. I colored it in with my Spectrum Noir markers which my wonderful hubby got for me for Christmas. I love having all the colors to choose from now! And that is my kind of sport! Jumping on a marshmallow!

Thanks for stopping by today. Stay warm!
